Day 2: wonderful introductory tour to the Schlosshotel Fernsteinsee
Distance: 14 km, difference in altitude: approx. 60 m, duration: 3-4 h
Your introductory tour today leads from your accommodation in Ehrwald, with a magnificent view of the Zugspitze, first through the „Magic Forest“ to Biberwier. From here you hike along the Way of St. James past the Weißensee to the Fernpasshöhe and on to the Fernsteinsee. Once here, the 4* nature resort Schloss Fernsteinsee welcomes you.
The landscape of this nature resort directly on the Fernsteinsee is one of the most extraordinary natural beauties in Tyrol with romantic islands, quiet forests, clear mountain streams and above all the might of the mountains.
- Overnight stay/breakfast at Hotel Schloss Fernsteinsee. On request also possible in Fernsteinsee Castle.
Day 3: Section 1 of the Starkenberger Panoramaweg (Fernpass-Nassereith)
Distance: 8.7 km, difference in altitude: 372 m, duration: 2 h 30 min
Today you walk in the footsteps of amber, Romans and pilgrims. The stage begins at the Fernpass at 1,216m. From here you follow the old paths of the Via Claudia Augusta. The entire area can be described as a natural jewel. Downhill (372 meters in total), the hike first leads through a forest, past the Fernsteinsee campsite, then through forests and meadows to the center of Nassereith. There is a warm welcome to the 3* Landhotel Seeblick. The feel-good hotel is located directly on the lake and its restaurant with a wonderful view of the lake is well-known for its excellent trout. Nassereith offers nature lovers the best conditions. The hotel is also the starting point for beautiful hikes, but you will also enjoy a short stroll around the rural village in the afternoon. You might also visit the Nassereither Fasnachtshaus (only possible if booked in advance).
- Overnight stay/breakfast at the Landhotel Seeblick.
Day 4: Nassereith – Tarrenz: a hike through the beautiful Gurgltal
Distance: 11 km, difference in altitude: 7 m (it is then a few more meters up to the hotel), duration: 2 h 15 min
The gentle Gurgltal, which runs almost flat between Imst and Tarrenz, is also called the „Valley of 1000 Feldstadel“ because of the countless barns in it. An unforgettable hike where you can immerse yourself in this scenic gem. Except for the end from the village of Tarrenz up to the Panorama Hotel Gurgltaler Hof, the entire tour has no significant differences in altitude and is largely flat. On the route we recommend a stop at the Kneipp facility Frauenbrunnen Heilquelle today, and then at the beautifully situated „Happi’s Hütte“ for a little refreshment. Before you continue hiking through the charming witch village of Tarrenz along flower meadows, we also recommend a visit to the healer in Gurgltal and the Knappenwelt along the way. These cultural highlights are right on the hiking route.
- Overnight stay/breakfast in the Panoramahotel Gurgltaler Hof in Tarrenz. Enjoy the regional delicacies here and let yourself be pampered.
Day 5: Sections 3 and 4 of the Starkenberger Panoramaweg Tarrenz – Obtarrrenz – Imst
Distance: 2.5 km, difference in altitude: approx. 170 m, duration: 1.5 – 2 h
First, the hiking trail leads back today on the other side of the Gurgltal up to Obtarrenz. From Obtarrenz, the hike in the direction of wild feeding leads directly to the high crossing over the Salvesen Gorge. We now continue along a forest path in the direction of Starkenberg Castle. Here you can experience the fascinating beer myth of Starkenberg Castle. The beautiful path takes you further past the Strakenberger See up to the Linserhöfe on the partial meadows to your current accommodation, the Alpenhotel Linserhof. This charming hotel is beautifully situated behind a small lake and in front of an imposing mountain backdrop.
- Overnight stay/breakfast in the Alpenhotel Linserhof.
Day 6: Section 5 of the Starkenberger Panoramaweg Imst – Imsterberg
Distance: 14 km, difference in altitude: 520 m, duration: 4 h
From the partial meadows, the beautiful hike initially leads relatively flat through forests to Hoch-Imst. Maybe you take the time for a ride on the Alpine Coaster Imst?
From here the route winds through the sparse forest to the district of Gunglgrün. You always walk slightly downhill on beautiful forest paths. From here the path leads down into the valley and there you cross the bridge over the Inn. Continue walking up towards Imsterberg, where your innkeepers will be waiting for you in their traditional Venetrast house in the center of the village. The kitchen here offers original Tyrolean specialties and is well known.
Day 7: Section 6 of the Starkenberger Panoramaweg Imsterberg – Kronburg and on to Zams.
Distance 14 km, duration 5 hours, 502 meters of altitude difference
Today’s last stage leads from the village center in the direction of the Schlüsselbach gorge, mainly through a wooded area to the picturesque hamlet of Obsauers. The Roman tower, which is well worth seeing, and the St. Vigil chapel are also located here. The path continues to the coronation… the Kronburg. The last part of the hike leads through a shady forest down to Rifenal and on to the idyllic Tramserweiher. And here at the pond is the beautiful Tramser Hof, the ideal end point of your hiking trip. The Trams above the town of Landeck is a nature reserve that enchants its visitors with picturesque ponds, lush green meadows and old forests. Enjoy the last few hours in the hotel’s wellness area with sparkling ice water. Your legs can also cool down in the hotel’s own Kneipp pool or in the beautiful outdoor swimming pond. Afterwards, doze comfortably on the luxurious water beds and review all the last breathtaking panoramas.
